Whether you have a window that is difficult to shade, could use a bit more privacy, or you just want to add a little more style - stained glass windows can fit the bill. Artisan Stained Glass can work with you to design a beautiful window solution that you'll enjoy for years. And should you choose to sell your home, custom windows can differentiate your home from the cookie-cutter homes you might have on your street.

We specialize in creating stained glass windows that fit your style as well as your budget.  Geometric designs, quilt patterns, florals, abstracts, landscapes, classical designs - you name it, we can design it!

Budgeting Your Project

The overall cost of a custom window depends on many factors, not the least of which is the intricacy of the final design  Types of glass, metals, and bevels used and the installation effort (Is it easily accessible or does it require scaffolding to install?).  At the outset of the project, plan on a median figure of $200 per square foot as a benchmark for the completion of the entire project.   Sitting with us and discussing the project, we will determine how best to satisfy your aesthetic desires while keeping costs to a minimum.

Let's Get Started!

The process begins when you stop in or give us a call. We will arrange a time to meet with you and discuss your ideas - both design and location of the finished piece. At this time, we'll draft a proposal and provide you with a cost estimate. Your signature on the proposal and a 50% deposit gets us back in the studio to start designing (the other 50% will be due upon delivery).  We'll provide you with at least 3 designs (not to scale) for your final approval.  Once you approve a design, we begin selecting glass and preparing the piece for construction.

What's the Schedule?

On average, you can expect to see your completed piece within 6 weeks of approving the design.  Please remember that this is an art as much as a craft, and sometimes things happen to delay the process (as much as we'd like to control EVERYTHING in the world, some things are outside our grasp).  If something does come up that threatens our estimated delivery date, we'll call you immediately...so you know what to expect as soon as we know.   Thank You.

Other Services
> Repairs of Stained Glass Panels, Windows, Suncatchers, etc.
Repairing leaded windows can be time-consuming and tedious and the risk of further breakage is significant.
If you bring your piece into the studio, Linda will provide an estimate of repair time and materials work and Dave can do his best to match your glass.  There's no charge for glass matching if the glass is part of our standard stock.  We have glass samples available from most glass manufacturers to assist in this endeavor.

> Cutting Glass (to specific dimensions)
We can score and break your chosen glass to specific dimensions for cabinetry, lamps, or other project use within size and tool limits, which involves cutting time, labor and waste material created from unusable glass stock.  Standard Rate is $15 per pair of cabinet panels.
Please allow at least 1/16 to 3/32"" from edge of opening to allow for glass installation.  Call us for a quote if you have a larger project in mind.

> Cutting Zinc/Brass (to specific dimensions)
We can mark and cut your chosen zinc or brass to mitered or squared dimensions from 6' lengths. Cost involves cutting time and labor.  You  will be charged the inital 6' length of zinc but we will attempt to use available stock from our shop projects and classes to minimize your cost.

> Framing Stained Glass Work
Wood frames can be mitered or squared to encompass the border of a stained glass panel and help it preserve structural integrity.   The industry "standard" oak stock we use is 6' long and comes in widths of 2", 1-3/8", and 1", each with its varying cost per 6' "stick".  These are pre-routed (grooved to a depth of 1/4") and chamfered, or rounded and smoothed, for zinc-bordered panels.  Larger, metal framed panels may require additional groove deepening or widening to ensure a snug fit, so quite a lot of tools and work are involved in getting these to the required depth and dimensions.  If you just want to make your own frames from our oak stock, then call us to to have them ready for you.
